'The Edible Garden' starts at 8pm on BBC 2 on April the 7th

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

Loved this programme and will buy the book and place it right next to my Hamilton collection.
It seemed almost monochrome the way they filmed it. Also where oh where does Alice get all those wonderful outfits from.
Hubby and I are always saying that there must be so many good presenters out there like Alice who should be on telly. He says the BBC and preoccupied with big names. I can see that!
Muddy Puddles is our favourite episode!

Anyone know if there is going to be another series?

Although it was a very weak experiment of hers, with loads of cheating etc, I think it was a good program to inspire people. I liked the idea of windowsill salads, sprouted seeds and pea shoots..... great for winter. I wish my hens were as quiet as hers

I am lucky to have a garden that is slightly larger than hers, with a similar style house but it is far from average as she says, most would not be able to fit all that in their postage stamps.

Must dig up my lawn.....

anyweay.read through the thread........... and have to agree with just about evrybody. I did overall enjoy it..... did learn quite a bit ( not surprising as am a total noveice.last year being my first attempts!) Clothing well... ( wont be taking any tips in that dept!)
Black nd white bits were annoying, some useful recipes etc........

On balance would love to see another series...

Enjoyed the thread. including some of the somewhat off topic posts re open air urination habits of the French!
Strangely enough I was actually wondering about that just last week! , so now I have my answer!

Dear Mithril,

Me too, although there are many clips on youtube if you feel nostalgic. Alys has two other books, "The thrifty forager" and "The thrifty gardener", both of which would be interesting series, come to think of it there was the idea about Plotlands we had on here a while ago. Come on BBC, pull your finger out!
