Only just catching up with this.

The book sounds great - absolutely of its time, so I am sure it will do well. Are your publishers getting you to do a promotional tour?

Oh, I wish we could get it before this Christmas. Still working on it, edits are almost finished, I think. It seems that as soon as I think it is all done and dusted there is more work to do, ah well.

We are not going to get the final page proofs on PDFs until around about January and the final book won't have the first print run until about March I think. It is all still quite exciting and a little (well every now and then a lot) nerve racking.

The publishers are trying to get us into the literary festivals and as for a promo tour I guess it all depends on how well the first lot sell. To be honest that side of stuff is only just starting so we will have to wait and see. I am guessing we will know a lot more in the run up to publication.

Yep I saw that, don't know if that is good or bad thing for us? Does it mean they think it will sell a lot of copies or does it mean they don't think it will sell at £25? Seems odd changing the price before it is even totally finished.

I guess it is a good thing for you lot to get it cheaply but what about the independent book sellers can they still sell it cheaply and make a profit?

Having a meeting with the marketing folk in a couple of weeks so will find out about what price we can sell on the site at. Hopefully we can beat the amazon price and sell signed copies. Might try and work it out so we put some by say 20 or so at cut price to sell just to forum members.

I don't think that it being cheap on Amazon is a bad thing for you - I think they just sell everything cheaply cos they can - massive distribution network, lower overheads than real shops.

Small independent bookshops can't sell it as cheaply, but the Amazon marketplace function has helped a lot of second-hand and speciality booksellers reach a wider market, though, so it's not all bad.

I will buy mine from you directly, though!

Makes me wonder a bit about R.R.P. (recommended retail price).
In some shops, some of the prices- rrp £20, now £5, etc...

Maybe OH will buy it for me for my birthday in April
