Growing Melons

I have always had mixed results growing melons here, from no fruit at all to maybe one or two, but this year is different.
This year I planted 3 different varieties and allowed them to wander where they liked underneath my tomatoes. Today I can smell that one is nearly ripe, and rummaging about under the toms I counted 11 in various stages of growth.
Probably the weather has a lot to do with it, but jobbing them in and pretty much ignoring them afterwards may have been just what they wanted.
So, melon for breakfast off and on for the next couple of months.

I wondered if it was your attempt at rhyming slang, or doesn't your keyboard have a "y" key.

Why can't you eat melons if you love them?

I obviously can't press y twice. Or proof read.
Melons are too high carb - too much sugar. The only fruit I eat at the moment are fresh or frozen berries - blackcurrants, blueberries, raspberries etc.

When I'm sylph-like I'll indulge in melons and bananas ( I miss bananas very much).

Ah, there's a difference between can't and won't.

Soon after I was diagnosed with diabetes I experimented with my blood glucose meter with various foods.
I quickly found that even small quantities of sucrose and glucose were a no-no, but intriguingly fructose, even in moderate quantities, didn't affect my blood sugar too much.
So while I can't eat white or brown sugar, I can eat honey, coconut blossom sugar, malt extract, and all the fruit that I grow ... including melons.

I've had weight problems most of my adult life and have yo-yo dieted for all of it. Although never diagnosed I'm fairly certain I was heading for T2 diebetes and probably a load of other health problems. This particular diet (ketogenic) is the first that has been both sustainable and effective. It really suits both of us (OH is doing it too) and I've lost 4 clothes sizes in about 18-ish months!

The diet says I mustn't eat any sweet fruit other than berries, so I don't.

Sorry I didn't mean to pry, but well done you, I hope you achieve the svelte figure you're after.
And stay that way.

What annoys me is that I've never been above about 12 stone (6' tall) and the media these days just totally link T2 diabetes with obesity.
Mine is hereditary, a present from my maternal grandmother who had T1 and passed it on to all here 7 children and a large percentage of her grandchildren.

Prying allowed. It gave me an opportunity to boast a little - I am quite chuffed about it.

I'm sure your T1 diabetes is well controlled but for those less fortunate keto is having good results for them too - although with medical supervision to monitor insulin needs as requirements can change quite dramatically.

Heredity can be a pain, can't it.
