Home-made Rabbit Trap

Post: # 279559Post vancheese »

Morning Team

I woke up to find a wild hare in my veg patch. After checking isn't not one of my rabbits which has escaped, I was wondering if there is a way to make a trap so I can catch and eat it :) I've had a brief look online and Most suggestions are for using a snare. I was wondering if people have an experience, suggestions comments or designs which work well. I'm not in the Uk so the rules are slightly different

Homemade box trap. It was my job as a kid to build box traps and bring rabbits home to the family. Need few boards, couple sticks, wire, and fishing line. It would be easiest to google how to build it. If you can't find it email address removed by admin

Find the places that they use to gain entry and set your snare there

Or block the holes

I'd need to be starving to use a snare these days. Why not lie up with a firearm?

I can't use a firearm here in hungary and i would prefer a drop-trap. I don't like the idea of snares unless I'm dying of hunger

The SAS survival handbook has plenty of small game traps

You could also try netting the rabbit points of entry. when you spook the varmits they should become entangled and you can despatch them humanely

or get a ferret
