Help with identification please

On my bush the fruits turn bright yellow in late autumn and remain on the branches until they rot (they don't fall off like other fruit). Mine has yellow fruit and flowers out at the same time.
I always understood that they should be quince flavoured, but every time I've tried to eat one, the best I can describe it as tasteless and not worth the bother.

That said, I may try again by waiting until the are just showing signs of starting to rot, probably in February.
