Anyone else got a standalone internet radio?

My experience with DAB reception was never that good.

We have one in the bedroom and it's brilliant. Current fave stations include house music from New York, a French jazz station, drum & bass from Poland, old soul from Philly and some classic old science fiction radio plays. Best of all, I can switch off the computer as it picks up the signal from the airport.

Last night's internet radio choices were a Bach recital followed by a Dutch dub station. So many stations still to discover .

Yep I've got one a roberts as well, FIP is good for background music its a French one, then I think Kolvradio is interesting, as is a polish one er... spa radio or something, I love the fact you can play podcasts too. The future of radio I think.

But I went with a digital radio...(in the USA, at least in my area it's pretty good)
I have the Teac-1, now discontinued, but is awesome for my locale.

I love radio much more than television. So maybe there will be a foraging radio show at some point!

We just bought our first digital radio. Well I bought it for husband's birthday. Great reception so far.

I love radio and can't be bothered with any other listening device, ipods etc? No thanks. Let somebody else decide what to play, and suprise me.

I heard these advertised on the radio recently. I have mobile broadband, we don't have proper broadband here, I have an allowance of 30gb a month and usually use about half that allowance a month. If I got one of these radios, would it use up a lot of my allowance, I assume I would be able to get radio stations from the UK and wherever, is that right? Not sure if we have digital radio here yet. How much would you expect to pay for one of these

Hi, i think you can get something like 2000 odd radio stations on these things... so yeah i think it's pretty much any radio station from around the World. Expect to pay £100 at the moment for starters with more expensive ones available for more money. This is the latest version of my one:

I'm sorry i can't answer your question about internet allowance hopefully someone with some knowledge on it might be able to help. I have unlimited broadband wireless here... you have to use wireless internet with these ones. As we have unlimited here i leave my radio on all day and night which is a godsent. I just imagine that it's like running a netbook on wireless internet connection or something whilst you have your main regular computer connected too.

Depends on the quality of the stream but it suppose if you were streaming at 64kbps, that would mean you'd use up 230MB per hour, 30GB is 30'000MB, so that would give you about 130 hours of radio @64kbps. I have no idea what rate these internet radios actually stream at, though, or whether you can choose to increase/decrease the stream quality depending on whether you want sound quality or steam economy.

As just stated it depends on the bandwidth of the stream you're listening to as bit-rates vary enormously. Listening to a 64Kbps radio stream 24 hours a day uses about 15GB per month.

Oh, and you can listen to over 10,000 radio stations worldwide (if you have either the time or inclination).
