Breezy

Post: # 293260Post Odsox »

'Tis a tad breezy down here at the moment and due to get worse later this evening with a red wind warning.
I think it's going to be worse further up country though, from Kerry to Donegal.

Of course the link is a live representation, so when you read this next week when it's dead calm you'll wonder what on earth I'm talking about. (nothing new there then)

There looks to be another pink bit just to the west of where I live, but not as bad as yours.

Not the day for Mary Poppins and her umbrella to be out and about then.

Well it was quite rough for 24 hours.
We lost electricity for about 3 hours and had to run the generator, which was nice but not very Ish.
All calm now and sunny.

Yesterday was horrible, with strong South Westerlies bringing in driving rain. About 10pm-ish the wind direction did a 180 and started hitting the back of the house and the wind rattled the heat exchange fan in our bedroom until I eventually fell asleep about 3am.

I'm a bit grumpy and not a fan of the weather this morning - which, like down your way Odsox, is mild and sunny.

I didn't really notice the wind - must have happened while I was at work. But I noticed all the things blown over in my garden - and buckets going awol...

It's going to be breezy according to the forecast today. Not so yet - but it is dustbin collection day

It always seems to be bin day when it's windy like that - it was here yesterday, too... And then I spend hours picking litter from the garden. Well, I will when I can next see my garden!

Yup - we had bin day too and a few of us had to do what was basically a beach clean without the beach. Not, of course, the main bin culprit.

The good news is that the wind has unsettled a load of the trees in the back lane and I've got myself quite a decent kindling pile now :)

We're supposedly much further north than the current weather warning - no one told the weather!

As we sat doing our light lamp stint this morning, our sitting shoulders touching, we had to shout to be heard over the horizontal hail hitting the windows at some force.

very windy here too but not over 25 km thankfully - something to do with a rare heating of the upper atmosphere over Antarctica displacing lower level air. Unfortunately the wind is dry and with rising temps the last soil moisture has gone. It's a balmy 32c at 1340 today; 40c forecast for tomorrow rising to 45c (113f) by Saturday.
