Best of luck with the sale, John. We've just bought a house and will be moving next month - then ours is on the market too!!!!

 Thought you had thought of moving towards civilisation Maggie? No more mileage to supermarkets or shopping and charges for deliveries to the end of the world at one point.

Have had family in Thurso in recent years so have some idea of where on the ends of the earth you are going.

Mind - the grandson did complain of the cost of housing when he moved dramatically south into the UK.

It's all relative, Flo. Where we are now we have a 40 mile round trip to get our click and collect order. Pretty much the only company who deliver to us, without surcharge, is Amazon! A trip to the nearest supermarket is 140 mile round trip (220 to the nearest big supermarket). What used to be a pleasant day out driving to Inverness to do a big shop has been made a nightmare by the sheer volume of campervans etc on the road nine months of the year now. A 2.5 hour journey can take anything up to 3.5 hours along with very frayed nerves and tempers. Oh, and our last permanent GP retired in the summer - we're now completely reliant on locums.

Where we're moving is still a small village but has home deliveries from no less than 3 supermarkets! 20 minutes up the road to the nearest main shopping centre and and about 1.5 hours down main roads to Inverness. And they have a permanent GP.

I think that's near enough to civilisation for us.

Oh and did I mention the 2, yes 2, greenhouses in the big garden!!!!

Everybody on the move? I envy you... I think I'll be stuck with my council house forever. Nevermind, could be worse.

My plans are quite fluid until this place sells, I am planning on a canalboat in Scotland, moorings are cheap and lifestyle is laidback. I am looking for community life again, looking for project to invest in. I have some tribe in Spain where I can stay for a bit and help build/rebuild houses/ gardens/ acequias / whatever needs to be done.
