They do use more - I saw a wind-up DAB one once, and I think you had to wind for one minute for each 5 minutes play! Mine goes for about an hour per minute winding. And the solar panel is very useful in summer.

I was only expecting the panel to work in the summer but it is holding it's own now...admittedly much further south thank you Ina!

Had a bit of a problem with the pictures but I have some more in the pipeline....
