Essential oils as fragrance

Post: # 184836Post lovelygreenleaves »

Does anyone use essential oil blends as fragrance for themselves rather than their home? If so, do you mix with a carrier oil or something? What's your favourite blend? I'd love to know more as I'm considering doing this!

I do but I don't use a carrier oil as they don't last long on me - I use vodka instead and the fragrance lasts ages.

My fave combos are:

Lavender, orange and patchouli.

Basil, clary sage, fennel and lavender.

Lemongrass, fennel, patchouli and grapefruit.

Sandalwood, patchouli and frankinsense.

The permutations are endless and it's fun experimenting - I use 12 drops in a 3ml atomiser and top it up with vodka.

Wow these sound great - thanks so much for the inspiration!

I stood next to a guy the other day who smelled so wonderful I had to ask what aftershave he had on. It turned out to be sage oil. I suggested he gave it a fancy name and told others that it was an aftershave made especially for him!!!! I have now bought a bottle for the OH lets hope it smells as good on him.

I love essential oils! For what my friends pay for one of their chemical smelling designer perfumes I can buy a lovely assortment of oils and do endless combos

I was going to make something like this as christmas pressies for this year, I've found some lovely perfume bottles in the charity shops and was going to use oils to mix them in as they are the stopper type.

My daughter has been asking for some soild perfume aswell, as one of her friends has bought some which she loves. has anyone got a good recipie for solid perfume or any experience?

I've never tried it but I was given this recipe for solid perfume:

1 tbsp of beeswax pellets
1 tbsp of almond oil
15 drops of essential oils (single oil or combo)

Put the beeswax and almond oil in a bowl over a pan of boiling water. When the beeswax has melted mix the EO's in. Pour into small jars and leave to cool. Apply to pulse points

Lovely, sounds so simple, I'm wondering what can go wrong. Something always does when I touch it :?

Lol I know the feeling - I'm having trouble making a lotion that doesn't separate. Not the end of the world as shaking it before use mixes everything together but it's frustrating!

Let me know how you get on with the solid perfume
