Hi everybody, I'm Sophie and I have been lurking around for ages and nicking all yer recipes (specially ginger beer ones) so thought I had better sign up and put some of my own up, share is fair

I'm orginally from the beautiful Calder Valley but I'm stuck in the middle of the concrete madness that is Liverpool, studying at uni. So currently not very selfsufficentish at all, but I really want to grow some more food and brew some more brews, prehaps even knit some knit  and this seems like the best place to get some advice.

So..yeah. Let the knowledge gathering begin!

Hi Sophie welcome to ish, :hugish:
what are you studying there?

I use to live in a concrete jungle called Wellington in a 3 story high one room wide flat, we grew our veges in pots on the balcony, do you have one by any chance if so you could grow some silverbeet (chard), maybe lettuces in spring, even potatos in a large deep pot, maybe some strawberries in summer.

My you have lots of fun harvesting knowledge.

Our remote ancestors said to their mother Earth, "We are yours."
Modern humanity has said to Nature, "You are mine."
The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth so that through his mouth we may say to the universe, "We are one."

Hi there and welcome!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Nope no balcony i'm fraid, just some window sills but I would be a bit worried about putting anything on them, its a busy street and I would feel really bad if I killed someone with falling radishes :(

I'm studying American Culture, lots of politics and films and literature and whatnot. next summer i've got a work placement for a project in New Orleans recycling building materials and paint, cant wait
