ours is about 7ft tall and has survived several attempts by hubby at "trimming it" he's not a gardener so butchering is a better word for what he does as well as the last 3 yrs of snow.

I use bay in most stews and with slow cooked meats. It has many uses and yes you can use it in sweet dishes too.

No!!! My bay tree is alive! Not well, but alive. See - Monty Don's a good bloke. He said go and have a close look. I did and, sure enough, there are one or two new shoots. I think it may be a year or two before it gets back into full production, though.

Unfortunately, the 50-foot Eucalyptus is definitely defunct :(

Cut it down Mike,the wood smoke will remind you of trips on the mountain railways of india(When you were young) and I've seen them regenerate when felled from that height(rosewarne,national collection). BW.
