You could have got seed from Brown Envelope Seeds for €5.00 delivered (for instance)

Still, provided you didn't get F1 seeds you can save your own and not have to buy any more. I saved seed from F1 Sundance 2 years ago as I thought F2 would be OK, but they were rubbish. I grew open pollinated Bantam at the same time, although separated, and got so much crop I'm not growing any this year as we still have a load in the freezer.

it's strange because after I bought them (Vilmorin a well known company here in France) I thought this cannot be right but then upon further investigation it would seem that the French do not grow very much. Other sources I looked at also were on the high side including I might add America. I got some from Thompson and Morgan and they were well priced however only half of them came up. My son has just looked at Jardiland and Rustler are 9.25 €. So what is happening I really am not sure.

Look for some more from the UK and see what I find..

Thanks a lot DnD, I just wasted an hour of working time this morning looking through their catalogue
But ... I did find a tomato called Matina, which I've never come across before. It purports to have ripe fruit in 55 days from transplant, which if true would beat Latah into a cocked hat.
I can feel an order coming on.

I really is a lovely website, I buy quite a few things there every year, the information on the page is the information you get on a coloured sheet with the packet of seed. Do you really think anything can beat Latah OD??

What's the exchange rate? I picked up fifty seeds for $1.35 last month.

Today 1.00 USD= 0.897783 EUR or 1.00 USD =0.682860 GBP , however we have to be careful which variety as they vary quite a bit, but that is cheap for sure.

It is a bit cheap. I think I picked up last year's for grandma's garden for a buck more.

Maybe the problem here in France is that it is in their mind that Mais or corn on the cob is for animals and there is an association there they may not like, which is why it is hard to purchase where I live in the Centre. We have a deluge of rain at the moment and if it does not stop we will be unable to plant our seeds.

I hope that it dries up for you soon. My little brothers talked me into planting the corn really early. I thought I might have to replant but it's doing just fine. Its knee high now.
