New BBC Weather

Post: # 3015Post Andy Hamilton »

today saw the launch of the New 3d BBC weather, they have done away with symbols and now you can see exactly where it is raining. As it has just strated to rain here they seem to be pretty acurate.

I for one really do like the change as Bath often has very different weather than even over in Bristol or in Bradford Upon Avon. I do miss the symbols but then I used to miss the magnetic symbols when they were used but soon got used to the blue screen meathod.

According to this site, it will not rain here tomorrow. Good! the washing's been out all day getting rained on - maybe it will dry tomorrow?

Yes, I think it's pretty accurate - yesterday they said it would be cloudy to start off with, then sunny at lunchtime, then rain in the afternoon, and that was exactly what happened!

Something's not right here - maybe the powers that be have figured out a way of controlling the weather and the BBC are in on the act!

During the cold war we were always told that the Russians were controlling the weather....

An accurate weather forecast? Wow! That's something I haven't seen

I'll have to keep an eye on this new style of presenting the information. When I looked this morning I just saw the summary, which still relies on symbols but, doublechecking, I realised that I could click the headings below the picture (wind, rain, etc) to view the new graphics.

Actually, I've just realised you can even click on the triangle pointing to the right to play an animation of the forecast for the next few hours. That's extremely cool... the only question is whether it's accurate. I'll have to watch and see!

I had the radio on for much of the day and most people phoning in did not like the change either. It is a lot more acurate, we just like moaning about the weather over here and now we have had good weather for the last few days we start moaning about the forecast. Someone phoned in and said, ' the weather has been better since we have had the new map, so why not keep it'.

The real difference is that I can actually work out my weather, on the old map I had to take a guess from wales, cornwall or dorset! They could all be pretty different.

The russian still control the weather. 8)

I like the new weather map. I know the Scots aren't that happy with it, as it makes Scotland look smaller than it actually is by the angle of the map as it's shown on screen. :(

As Andy says the weather in Bradford on Avon can be very different to Bath and indeed Bristol. (This is an area of around 30 miles)

I have a friend in Bristol who told me she had hail the other day. Nothing here!

All I want is NOT to be wearing my flippin' jumper in May ~ yes I am a whimp, but it should be warm by now.
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!
