Hi I am new!

Post: # 5296Post Sarah C »

Hi my name is Sarah and I am new to this forum.
I live in carmarthenshire and have a veggie plot in the garden and a greenhouse. That makes me sound very experienced but I am not. We moved the Wales from Portsmouth 4 years ago and bought a smallholding.
However, due to personal reasons we sold it last winter and bought a more family friendly house with a very large garden. We did keep 3 acres of land tho as we had a small flock of sheep and 2 horses. I also rent 10 acres for the horses off a friend. My horses are there at present so as my sheep are all gone now my own field is stood empty. We hope to keep pigs again at some point but not yet.
I have only recently been able to start again with the veggie growing idea and managed to buy a 2nd hand greenhouse 2 weeks ago and get the glass in last Thursday! However, it is already full with the tomatos etc that were on the patio. I did grow some early pots and my runner beans are doing well but that about it.
Anyway - hope to get lots of useful ideas and help here now I am up to getting in the garden again. Yippeeeeee

Welcome along Sarah!

I do hope that you like it here, the folks are helpful and friendly. I am a novice but have learnt lots of useful tips from everyone here.

Let us know what you have planned for that greenhouse. I am green with envy, I would love a greenhouse.

I have just re~read this and there's a lot of 'GREENS' in my wording, but it can't be a bad thing!

G'Day Sarah,

Nice to meet you. I'd like a large garden, we only have 500m2 but we make the most of it!

Hi Sarah and welcome to the site.

You won't go short of manure for your veggie plot will you with three horses. Lucky you.

What sort of greenhouse have you got? I've got an old wooden Alton one and it's sort of falling to bits now. Need a new one but can't afford it and I haven't found an article on this site yet about how to build your own. What about it chaps!! (or chap-esses)

Greenhouse

Post: # 5316Post Sarah C »

not sure what make my greenhouse is - got it second hand out of the freeads for £50 - I did manage to break a few panes but not to bad. I also bought some new rubber to seal the glass and was told that the type of rubber tells them its a Halls Greenhouse - didn't make any difference to me its wonderful who ever made it!!!
thanks for all the welcomes - looking forward to chatting and getting lots of helpand advise.

I think this may have been posted here before, but it merits re-posting anyway

Several other interesting things to make in the 'Projects' list there.

Oh, and welcome Sarah, BTW.

Thanks for that link Stew.

It's an interesting site. I might have a go at something a bit smaller than the polytunnel first as I'm useless at following technical drawings. I liked the look of the cold frames. Unless you know of anyone who offers a pollytunnel erection service!!
