Post: # 74074Post melanie »

Hi Folks, I'm Melanie, a artist/web designer from Somerset, UK. I am a newbie and am seeking anyone who might be interested in selling me some acorn caps or swapping for something arty or website help. I'll be posting in the swap section. :flower:

Hi Melanie and welcome to the site!

Can't you go out foraging for acorns yourself? There must be tons lying around out there.

Hi MMM, I would love to go foraging but I am housebound at present due to ill health. I did go up in the woods and 2 parks last year but couldn't find any. I thought someone might have a pile/bag they wanted to turn into a bit of cash or a swap. Thanks for the reply : )

Hi Melanie

Welcome to the site - whereabouts in Somerset are you? I used to live near Bath.

Sorry to hear that you can't get out and about... I haven't got any acorns yet but if we do find any will happily send them to you.

Hi Shirlz, How lovely, thank you! I am in Weston super (Mud) Mare : ) I used to live in Wiltshire too, a little place called Neston. My mother went back to college as a mature student at Lackham Agricultural College so we lived in the area for a year, I loved it.

Ooh, I just checked out your photos Shirlz, WOW! They are super duper! I love photography too. I recently entered a comp and won a box of cereals, I am sure it's still open . Here's the pic I took at Westonbirt in March: http://www.dorsetcereals.co.uk/new/phot ... .php?id=92

Hi Melanie - sorry to hear you can't get out and about. I broke my foot recently and it isn't back to normal yet so I have hardly left my house in 10 weeks except to go to the doctor!

Anyway we have tons of oak trees and there are acorns all over the ground, in fact they are a right nuisance for me at the moment because it is uncomfortable treading on them on my bad foot!

I could collect some for you but I'm not sure whether there is a problem sending something like that from France to England. Also how many would you need because I have to think about the postage costs?

Hi Mandy, Thanks : ) Sorry to hear about your foot - ouch! I was recently taken into A&E with high blood sugars - apparently I was 95% doughnut! Consequently I was diagnosed as diabetic and have had eyesight trouble, it's nearly back to normal now but not good enough to see acorn caps yet! Please don't worry about posting me acorns from France, I think they would get picked up by customs unless you baked them and I wouldn't want to put you to that trouble. Hope your foot gets better quickly! :flower:

Thanks for the comments on my pics Melanie - I love the pic you entered for the comp and I hope you enjoyed your cereal. I love the berries and cherries one in their range (not that we buy it very often! - well ok, we've bought it once.... lol... yummy though)
