If Nev wakes up tomorrow and wonders where all the trees have gone - sorry, I was weeding our plot today
I wish I could have looked back over the area I weeded and thought "Ooh, that looks nice and clear and ready for planting"....
There was another chap there, and he has cracked on with his plot, and said "It's the way to do it, by hand" and even though he had a hangover, seemed to be moving down his plot with superhuman speed. The other enormous plot which was waterlogged and weed strewn last time I saw it, and is now uniform and "turned", has had a rotivator at it. This chap said "It'll just have chopped the weeds up". Well, if the roots are anything to go by, we'll do well with carrots.

I am going to (belatedly) plant my shallots today and stick my onion sets in their seed tray cells and bring them on in the tunnel. Might do my tomatoes on Friday

So you know how great Salsify is as a veg, what about Cavero Nero, great leaves all through the winter , then in Spring sprouting broccolli like flowers! Takes up half as much room as broccolli

Bought an apple tree today! It's only a little one - Worcester Pearmain - to go into a large container (I'm running out of space). I mainly wanted another tree to help with pollination; I have one James Grieve already, plus a mystery tree (which doesn't seem to do the trick).
Oh, and bought onion sets, to go in later this week.

We edged the allotment with kickboards last weekend to try and keep the weeds and grass from taking over like they did last year!
My Mum was over in the week while I was away, and dug up tonnes of bindweed roots which was fantastic!
Hopefully going out to plant onions and shallots on Saturday.
I was given 15 raspberry canes as well a few weeks ago, so they are in and looking happy too.

Had a bit of a dig in the veg area today and the soil was very workable. Put in some shallots and will put seeds of early veg in tomorrow. PLEASE - do not rain tonight
And I also moved some of that lovely manure into the bean trench. (I had been putting the kitchen compost in there until I realised thieving large puppy was scoffing it
