Vegan alternative to custard

ingredients from a bird's powder tin:

Cornflour, Salt ,flavorings, Colour (Annatto)

I guess the sugar is in the flavourings, no? or is it added as an extra? I dunno./ I use the asda ready made stuff in cartons.

You have to add the sugar when you make it up.
It's just a tin of glorified cornflour really ain't it!
