What is 'xmas'?

We use an artificial one that was being thrown out at the hospital where I worked a few years ago. So not only is it already several years old but I saved it from landfill too.

My thrifty and creative mum used often to dress a twiggy branch from the garden, and I did the same until we got our growing tree a few years ago. And I remember being very shocked when a friend told me about the colour scheme for her tree last year - it involved buying a completely new set of decorations! I use the same ones each year - the fairy is the one we used at home as a child - each year my mum would make her look diferent by shoving some coloured fabric or tissue up her net skirt so the new colour showed through. My one indulgence is that each year I give my husband a decoration in the shape of a heart, but I either make it myself or get something handmade. Our tree is now covered with hearts.

I have an artifical tree for 15 years. still going strong.
so it is 'green' by now. :) Using it so long as long since helped the footprint.
I want another because the new ones are so wonderful, but I will not buy if something I have is still good. Hubby is pushing. NO way. I won't buy anything I don't need.
We don't do live inside due to allergy.

I came home from work a few years ago, in the middle of august and my husband had found and ecrected a fake xmas tree in our garden. Apparently a local pub had thrown it out. Other 'alf is excellent at finding stuff on the street. Now my 5 year old joins in- we call it street treasure

Mine this year, was a gift from a friend who has to thin out a Christmas tree plantation, but next year I may consider getting a rooted tree to last. When I was a child we had a tree which was rooted and came in each year until it got too big. It wasn't planted in a pot.

For years I had a big Leylandii hedge and used one of the tops each year. couldn't use them fast enough, really needed a Christmas 10 times a year lol, but I thought they made a super tree. Now I grow some Christmas trees in pots to sell so can use one of them, very convenient

got a big fake one which i had for 24 years now and still good as new
it covered with home made decoration from salt dough to ribbons from old parcle
this year its getting little stocking a am crotching from left over wool
we had a santa on the top which is as old as the tree
the only brought decoration are ones my mums for the boys each year and as they are now 14 and 11 my tr4ee is very over loaded with decoration which i love

We have a potted tree tiny when we got it in the sale 3 years ago potted it on. It came in for the first time this year and stood 5' in the red pot,it drank 5litres of water but still looks great,survived the woodburner,so will be. In next year.lots of homemade Dec with a gold star on top which is 16 years old.

I dress up a big house plant (ficus benjamini) with fairy lights and a few lightweight decorations.
This year I got led-lights so now the leaves of the plant don't suffer tiny burns anymore.

I'm putting my potted tree back outside today - yesterday I felt too sorry for it with all the rain and wind! It's tatty and not very green but it does the trick when it is covered in bling and the lights are on. This is a played about with photo as I didn't like seeing the wires trailing across the floor and couldn't find any option to do a blurred type of frame on the program I was using! I also enhanced the colours!
