I'd second this (though I reckon you need a fairly high speed, particularly with a small diameter drill bit) - a small cordless drill should be sufficient.

It may also be easier to hold the drill in a clamp, or get someone to hold it firmly, and then push the cork onto the drill bit, rather than push the drill bit into the cork. Be careful of very small bits - they can be pretty fragile.

Thanks guys,
I'll give it a go over the weekend. Assuming it works, the curtain will get finished a whole lot sooner than current progress indicates.

Maybe it'll even stop raining long enough for me to have the back door stood open & requiring a fly curtain made of corks...

put them on top of your canes that yopu stake your fruit and flowers with so that when you bend down the canes won't poke you in the eye.
