I'm pretty sure that coca-cola as a spermicide is a bit of an urban legend. Forget the acidity - all that sugary gunk in your nether regions surely can't be too hygenic.

I seem to also recall that tests have shown it to be less than amazing as a cleaning fluid compared to products sold for that purpose.

I'm not at all keen on the drink anyway but, if you are a cola fan, there is now an open source recipe available so you can try making your own!

I think it is a great idea, in the face of proprietory recipes (which may or may not be full of good things) - take the recipe, adapt as you wish, and share the benefits.

The research quoted on that link is inconclusive - and they do say that diet coke worked better, so no sugar, "only" sweetener in you nether regions I've never tried it myself, so can't speak from experience!

But as I said, cola as cleaning fluid has been tried and tested by a friend of mine, and she found it worked better than any ordinary washing powder they used. I still won't go out and buy cola just for that.
