Really I think it takes a lot for a stone house (without concrete, without foundations) to fall down!!! :shock:

They dont always fall down but.........no foundations then no damp course............also they can transfer damp from the outside to the inside just because of one misplaced stone facing the wrong way------the stone can be loose in places---------they can be a bugger to make alterations in without half the wall coming down on you....alot are dark and dingy due to wrongly placed and too small windows......sometimes the stone is of poor quality and suffers erosion........does Granite transmits Radon Gas thus being a serious health hazard ?

All in all as i said there are many reasons why those old stone houses arent here today and a credit to the stone masons on the ones which survived.
