cooking on log burners

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

stove pipe ovens are nice if you can find one or make one, like this

I made one quite a few years ago, it was not the prettiest thing in the world, but really worked well, it was based on a roasting tray that would fit inside. I made it from scrap,old cooking oil drums for the main part and bits I had lying around.

cant find that many places selling them, you might need to get someone to make one for you, a local blacksmith / welder /tinkerer should be able to help.

I am sure that I saw plans for then on motherearthnews.com a few years back

they are also called "chimney ovens"
