my mum used to do that with a hand crank coffee grinder. took ages. use a battery operated one lol!!!

I've got an electric one that is redundant as I can't easily buy coffee beans in Ireland.
But it comes in useful for grinding nuts ... makes very nice ground almonds.
Never thought to run sugar through it though, I have a small food processor and sugar smashes easily in that.
