I doubt if an allotment is ever 'finished'!
Managed to finish clearing most of the vegetation off today, in preparation for marking out the beds and paths. And planted the fruit bushes. And ate soup, drank tea and talked to a few other plot-holders!

Very important - must get your priorities right! (That's called networking...

If Nev wakes up tomorrow and wonders where all the trees have gone - sorry, I was weeding our plot today

I wish I could have looked back over the area I weeded and thought "Ooh, that looks nice and clear and ready for planting"....
There was another chap there, and he has cracked on with his plot, and said "It's the way to do it, by hand" and even though he had a hangover, seemed to be moving down his plot with superhuman speed. The other enormous plot which was waterlogged and weed strewn last time I saw it, and is now uniform and "turned", has had a rotivator at it. This chap said "It'll just have chopped the weeds up". Well, if the roots are anything to go by, we'll do well with carrots.

Came back from a week away and the local farmer has delivered a huge pile of manure. I'm a happy bunny

Lucky b*ggers!
I am going to (belatedly) plant my shallots today and stick my onion sets in their seed tray cells and bring them on in the tunnel. Might do my tomatoes on Friday

.
So mostly this weekend I've been planting:
Dwarf Cherry tree (bare root)
3 varities of blueberry's
10 Autumn Bliss raspberry's
30 bare root strawberry's (10 of Cambridge favourite,10 Emily,10 Marshmello)
Also planted First early peas Little Marvel (presoaked them in chillie oil to put off the bleedin mice, which have had one lot.)

Bought an apple tree today! It's only a little one - Worcester Pearmain - to go into a large container (I'm running out of space). I mainly wanted another tree to help with pollination; I have one James Grieve already, plus a mystery tree (which doesn't seem to do the trick).
Oh, and bought onion sets, to go in later this week.

Really want to get going out in the veg patch but it snowed (horrid wet stuff) for half an hour yesterday and hailed hard this morning. So the soil is really wet and cold now.
Oh well - I shall just have to keep nagging OH to make me that cold frame......

We edged the allotment with kickboards last weekend to try and keep the weeds and grass from taking over like they did last year!
My Mum was over in the week while I was away, and dug up tonnes of bindweed roots which was fantastic!
Hopefully going out to plant onions and shallots on Saturday.
I was given 15 raspberry canes as well a few weeks ago, so they are in and looking happy too.

Had a bit of a dig in the veg area today and the soil was very workable. Put in some shallots and will put seeds of early veg in tomorrow. PLEASE - do not rain tonight
And I also moved some of that lovely manure into the bean trench. (I had been putting the kitchen compost in there until I realised thieving large puppy was scoffing it

)

From my experience, you'll never have to plant them again anyway!
