As well as not boiling too much water, may I suggest a return to the teapot and tea cosy? I admit I'm a tea addict and DH is nearly as bad so making pots of tea rather than individual cups makes more sense. With a good tea cosy it keeps warm for quite a while and saves boiling the kettle again. It also makes the tea itself go further if it is left to brew properly rather than made in a tea cup.

dont even drink tea or coffee but feel it was a good thing to do.

I would, but I'm well known at nestle for being a total nut-job. I send them a letter every year pointing out that under door 3 (or so) of their milkybar advent calendar there appears to be a penis... and could they please do something about the new milkybar kid as he gives me nightmares.

this will be the third year in a row that I've sent them a letter. I'll keep doing it until they fix the moulds and make the candle shape more candle like and less like a willy.

Do you think we should revive the kettle campaign??

I am tempted to start a new campaign trying to get people to use the train more than the plane. Or are there enough others doing this?

I've almost given up here... I did put up a sign in the staff room, asking folk politely to only use as much water etc etc... Almost every time I make a cuppa, I have to EMPTY the kettle. Which means, that whoever used it before, left more than the two cups in it that are the minimum - so must have boiled at least twice as much as they needed.

These are all highly intelligent scientists I'm talking about!

Just a one liner on the box would do.. just like they do on alcohol now...

Drink responsibly.. boil less water!!!

I don't want to sound obtuse but, why throw away boiled kettle water. Store it, use! Plants, loo ect.

If that was meant as a reply to my having to empty the kettle before I set it on to boil for myself - yes, I do water the one plant that we have in the staff room with it... It would be a bit difficult to use it for the loo, though. This is kind of a public building. And there's not that much water, either...

I was around my mates house the other day and on a box of pg tips, the bit of cardboard that you take off to get to the tea bags has written on it....

Consider the environment, don't overfill the kettle.

If it's top tea then it has to be Sainsbury's Red label. It's a good idea, why not a little chit in the packaging/brewing instructions. That would include the supermarkets too.
