 last autumn a neighbour of mine bought a puppy,tri-coloured jack russell,3 weeks later the owner went into hospital and i had the dog,my neighbour was in there for a while and has now returned to his home country and his house is up for sale,i still have the dog!he`s great,a small dog, freindly with the kids and my cats and my own dog,i don`t want to part with him but he has taken to chasing the cows that have recently been put in the field behind my house,i have tried tying him to a post, sad, but nessesary, and had installed a electric fence but as he takes my lab/spaniel cross with him the current is too much for the jack russell and i dont like it anyway,my big dog runs through and yelps but still does it again and again and again,so it has been taken down,i need to rehome him i suppose where he hasnt cows on his doorstep, but unless i know he is in a good home i cant part with him,its causing so much distress to all of us,he has a kennel/dog run we bought him but i want to be able to let him free,so far he`s cost us a fortune trying to sort this out, including having a 6 foot fence put up along on side of our property as he kept going next door to the rotweiler and getting frisky with her!!!and she likes him,the first fence we put up he dug under,i am thinking of having him neutered while he isnt interested in her (at present)maybe this will calm him down, what do you think, :?

I would definitely get him neutered but unfortunately I doubt you'll stop him chasing the cows. Jack Russells are bred to hunt, they love it! Whereabouts in the country are you? I wanted a JR (although don't let my OH read this!!!).

sorry,in Ireland, the south, thanks for your reply,i am going to look for a home for him he`s such a dear little thing, loves to be spoken to and stroked, follows the kids around but this morning the cows are in the field behind us and i`m wary of letting him out of his run, when i let him inside he is like billy whizz at first then settles down in his dogbed, its letting him have a run and widdle first that he may escape over to the cows,

Good luck with rehoming him. He sounds like a lovely dog.
