Morning from sunny Folkestone
Morning from sunny Folkestone
Morning all...
I stumbled across this site whilst trying to find some info on beach foraging, got reading a few of the forum posts, and in the end couldnt resist joining a site with such a cool name... I'm definately an ish!!
I'm Tim, 30, male (is that obvious?), bit of a hippy, I hail from sunny (or not so sunny, really depends on the weather) Folkestone in Kent, I have a horrible little rented flat which (thank god) has a back garden. The lawn is gradually receding as I reclaim more and more of it to make room for the veg. One day it will end up looking like an allotment plot rather than a back garden, oh wont the landlord be pleased!
So thats about the extent of my self sufficient-ness at the moment, I grow some veg in my garden. But I have dreams of going out foraging up the hills and on the beach, maybe try a bit of fishing... Pipe dreams at the minute, I dont have a clue what I'm doing, but with all your help (grovel, grovel), I'll know where to go and what to look for.
Anyway, thank you for having me, I shall hopefully speak to some of you soon!
Tim.

Hi Tim
Welcome aboard. If I was a landlord I'd be thanking you mightily for changing an unproductive lawn area into an allotment style garden. That could be a unique selling point to any prospective new tenants nowadays!
There is a fair bit of info about foraging dotted about the site and the forum! It's great fun.

Re: Morning from sunny Folkestone
Hello from a fellow Folkestoner! Its not so sunny today though!
The hills have lots of blackberries and rosehips and I'm sure we found some sloes last year but they were a bit past it. Gotta beware of all the cows though! The warren area has a few blackberries and rosehips too although the birds tend to get the fruit first.
Anyway, welcome!
