Use fo an old telephone exchange cabinet

OH just cannot bring himself to let anything be thrown away, so now we own two cabinets from a telephone exchange.
These are made from metal, and are very heavy. The are around 2 metres tall, about 60cm deep and wide. The back top and bottom are mesh, the sides solid and the door half solid half with vents.

As we would have to pay to get rid of them and no one on freecycle wants them, I need to find a use for them, so far I have though possible raised beds, or dismantling them to somehow make a small fence to keep the ducks and chickens out of a plant nursery area. ideas please

You could shelve them out and use them as a root store, obviously you will need to put them in the shed/ garage, or you could put them against an outside wall and use them as tool store's.

If you don't mind the way they look, and you can make them level, then, outside storage sounds great. Or in a garage or shed.

you could shelve them out, put two padlocks on the front of them and use them to store tools on, inside your garage/shed

or you could lay them on there sides, one on the left side, and one on the right side, and then, put some sleapers on top of them, thus making an outdoor bench for your garden or alotment, that you could also store stuff in.

or if you really dont want them, way them in at a scrap merchant, but you may end up paying more for your fuel

They sound like they are just my style, I'd fit shelves in them spray paint them (probably red or green) and use them as kitchen cupboards, they just sound wonderful to me, I love stuff like that - how much would it cost to ship them over to me

ETA......... no, seriously, if you would ship them and it wasn't mad prices would you consider it?... just told the OH about them and he thinks the same as me.

shipping would definitely be more than it is worth, I am in New Zealand. If I wasn't I would drive up an ddeliver it free of charge.

My goodness. You can tell you aren't in the UK. You'd have scrap metal dealers beating each other to your door here for them. Layed on their sides or backs would they be any good for chooks? Maybe a temporary home for a hen with young?

Like Ann, I love things like this. I have the insides of a server cabinet as a shelving unit on my patio. My log store is an old warehouse trolley, I have my ex-bats in a cage made from old warehouse security grills, a couple of warehouse work benches as potting benches in my garden. An old metal shelving unit makes a great trellis to hide a water butt - oh I could go on and on.

I'm sure you'll find a use for them.
