Hi guys,
I had no idea were to place this so I guessed here would do I really want to make the elder flower wine recipe that is here on site. But I have no idea how many demijohns I will need?
Does anyone have any idea the amount of glass demijohns that are needed at all? If anyone can let me know I would be forever thankful!

whatever size of brew you decided on (i tend to only do multiples of 23l/5gallons) you'll need 1 per brew plus 1 spare, that way you can use the spare to syphon into and then just sterilise it and use it for the other wines, and so on...

i currently have 60 gallons of wine on the go, in twelve 5 gallon containers but i only have a couple of spares on top of that

Not sure which recipe your referring to so I can't even begin to guess however a standard brewing bucket is 25 litres or 40 pints or 5 gallons so if your doing a single bucket worth of wine your can expect to need a minimum of 5 DJ's.

I currently have 14 DJ's and only a few of them are empty, the more you have the more you will brew

lol, my step-dad sorts out a big batch of apples from a local orchard each summer, he then takes them somewhere else to get them pulped/juiced in bulk and he does 110 gallons of cider while i do big batches of apple wine. i did 30 gallons in 07/08 and upped it to 45 in 08/09.
I then continually do 5 gallon wine kits, as they're reliable, tasty and still cheap (£1.30-1.50 per bottle), even if they're not as cheap as the apple wine (20p per bottle i think).

At the moment i have 10 gallons of the apple degassing, 10 gallons about to start degassing and 25 gallons still fermenting (as you can probably imagine its a big task to complete all of the apple wine, especially when its all 40 minutes away by car and as such i only ever get near it 2-3 times a month), and 5 gallons each of White Zinfandel, Pinot Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon degassing/clearing
