Frost Alert thingy majigy

Post: # 148788Post Organic_Linker »

Not sure if this is the right place, but hey!

Was asked by a friend to do this so thought Id release it for free.

Its a Frost Alert Email tool - you sign up and set your parameters and it will email you if it thinks there will be a frost so you can tuck in your lovely tomatoes :D

It is a fairly basic algorithm atm but I have been in touch with some experts in the states to help me with the best conditions to look out for.

Anyway its here :)

Id love to get your thoughts!

I signed up for it and it hasn't worked :( lost quite a big polytunnel crop early in the season due to an unexpected late frost :(

Perhaps it does work for some but I wouldn't recommend relying on it.

erm ok

well im sorry it didnt work for you. as we say on there its an aid not a guarentee:
This tool is intended as an aid to combat frost damage, however even weather forcasts can be wrong so please note that we cannot guarentee the conditions. We hope the tool helps, but we cant be held accountable if it doesn't.

So its more to help spot the low temperatures that might cause the frost -= this is why we allow you to set the temperature for which you will receive the alert.

Again my apologies this didnt help, if it were not free id offer a refund! :hugish:

The tool uses Weather.com's forcast system for temperature.

As Organic Linker pointed out, it is just a guide and relies itself on information provided from Weather.com. Just as you can't guarantee that BBC weather will be correct either, it's always wise to take precautions such as checking multiple weather prediction sources.

It is a handy (free) tool for providing alerts through no-standard means (i.e. Email) which the BBC and co. do not offer.

That's fine guys it wasn't a personal attack, it didn't work for me... that's all I'm saying... not blaming anyone for anything, sorry if it came across that way. :flower:
