Where can I get home brew supplies in Ireland?
I'm near the north coast, so the further north the better. Though Dublin would be good too.

Thanks.

Hi Quizmaster,

Well, we found a little shop in Castlerea that does just about everything.... however, the mail order company that hubby uses is
http://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie

And what a nice guy he is too! He forgot an item in the last package, so sent it separate, but was really pleasant on the phone & quick too! I think it takes 2 days for delivery & he uses the local fastway couriers.

Good luck! Oh, if you're after making a fake guinness Andy says try the Munton Premium.
His was ready last night & he was VERY impressed! Unlike me at midnight when I heard the snores coming from his side of the bed...... :?

Cool thanks.
No not Guinness, wine.
With Guinness there can be no substitute for the real thing.

We have a long hedgerow along the back of the house, entirely gorse. Go out every morning the air smells like coconut. Well they say you can make wine with it.
Likewise with the nettles. They grow under the gorse for some reason.

Wine takes about a year. In one year's time we might be the only people in Ireland with a bit of hooch.

Ha! You've not seen Camile's supplies!
Actually, I shall have to ask for his blackcurrant liqueur recipe... but I have a carrot whisky recipe that sounds like fun - and ready in about 3 weeks too - now, if only I was a drinker....

You load of old alkies, you! :drunken:

OK, I got this from a 'local to me' forum - the lady who posted this is a lovely lady & soon to be a very good friend, so I'm sure she won't mind me posting this here....

Carrot whiskey....
6lbs of carrots,
1 gallon of water,
4lbs of sugar,
1 tablespoon full of raisins,
1lb of wheat,
1oz of yeast,
2 lemons,
2 oranges
Dice unpeeled washed carrots and boil in the water.
Simmer gently until tender.
Strain and add sugar to liquid.
Slice and add oranges and lemons.
Add wheat and raisins.
Sprinkle yeast on top.
Ferment for 15 days - and bottle or drink!

Now, you all know I don't really drink, but even I'm going to give this a go!!
So the question now is: Who wants ME as their Secret Santa this year??

Enjoy!!

Thankyou very much. One more question, where do you get wheat from? pbf.

I would have thought that wheat can be gotten from a natural food shop?
Well, that's where I'm going to try, anyways!
I shall ask about the wheat though, & let you all know when I have an answer - but I'm still going to give this a bash - it's the 15 day thing that seems very appealing

They are by far the best value suppliers and deliver next day anywhere in Ireland
(north or south) if the order is received before 2.00 PM.

If your after anything beer related this guy does some really good gear and I believe the saving on the product should go a long way towards the postage costs ;)

http://www.barleybottom.com

He's a home brewer who decided to share his bulk purchases with anyone who wants to buy from him, so far he's done a roaring trade with the people at Jimsbeerkit forum and is now in the process of increasing his hop range as well :D
