I am in the process of harvesting olives from my one and only tree, and looks like I will get over 5 kilos this year.

Gonna extract me some oil! (please insert Texan accent)

Wow, lucky you! How big is your tree? Obviously not a little one in a pot. Will these be green or black (I am fairly ignorant about olives). I think the black ones are ripe, the green underripe?

Thanks M3, it is about 4 metres tall, we must have had it for 10 to 15 years. Year the black ons are ripe and green is unripe. Trouble is if you let them ripen, they fall off and get trod on, mowed etc. so this year I am harvesting the buggers!

I wish my tree would show up some olives. I get little pippy things that never come to anything. It's in a pot and about 3 and half feet tall. It lives out all year but just sits there lookin' purdy. (Texan accent required again)

Let us know if you strike oil Nev!

I have a fruit press hedgie! My first expsriment produced a watery olive flavoured slime which rapidly went hairy!

Back to the drawing board!
