That's got no support bars, the ones my OH and I have seen have a metal strip which the bees build upon up to the bar which means you don't get this kind of problem.

All you do when you want the comb is cut around the metal support frame.

Oh, so we're not talking about chickens here. What on earth is a TBH because I was trying to figure out what that meant in chicken terms until I read SPS's reply.

Ah sorry its a top bar hive and we are talking about bees!
This has nothing to do with the kind of bars you have. In my opinion.
