fixing my vinegar pot.

Post: # 171135Post Green Aura »

Advice needed again folks

I've got a vinegar pot off flea bay but when it arrived the wooden tap has come out. Otherwise it's lovely and I can't wait to get it into action.

What can I glue it back in with, do you think.

It will need to be non-toxic, OK for food contact and also acid resistant and stick wood to ceramic. And probably other things I haven't even thought of!

I haven't got a clue what to use

Hi Maggie

Might need a bit more info (any chance of a photo). Is the original a wooden taper shape that has split or did it have some other way of fastening into the pot. Where is the actual break

Kind regards
Martin

It's all intact. I've had another look at it and there is some old string which looks like it may have slipped.

I think if I replace this with some waxed kitchen string, tap it in and the put a little more melted wax round the join, it might do the trick.

What do you think?

yep thats what my OH says before I told him your last contribution. Tap it back in and melt wax around it. I would use good wax.

OH has just run back naked from the shower to say "use bees wax!" no suitable smiley!!!!!

Tell your OH thanks - it wasn't so urgent he need to run around starkers  Or maybe it's warmer where you are!

I think the smiley most appropriate would be a combo -
