So Renault have announced their new eco-car - the Zoe

But not everyone is so happy. A whole bunch of French parents have started a petition to get Renault to change it as they don't want it named after their little darlings

Well all I can say to them is

GET A LIFE

I know it might seem odd, but the French sometimes get very upset about non-human things being given human names. This extends particularly to animals: it is just seen as being very impolite to name a horse or a dog or a chicken with a name that might be used for a person. Renault should have been sensitive to this being as what they are French and all

Typical french....

whne we were expecting our baby way back in yonder times we didn't know the sex so possible names had to be of a unisex type nature. We counldn't decide so in desperation I said "right the next name we see will be the baby's name... ok? My wife agreed and the next name we saw was Aaron's school of motoring !!!

All I can say is that I'm glad it wasn't Rentokill........ oh and the baby was a boy.......

[ see I haven't got any better with age]

Aha, then that would explain the extremely wierd dog and cat names lists you see on posters at the vets. Horses also have very odd names.

Thank god my neighbours have got Prince, Mimi and Biscotte as I can prounounce them!

Fiat did used to sell a car in South America called the "Rustica". For some reason, that name wasn't used in Europe.

Personally, I'd be happy to drive a car called a Double Nobby.

I wonder if there was the same trouble in Italy when Ferrari released the "Enzo"? Being named after the company's founder there has got to be a few of them about.

Don't know what the French are complaining about, not so long ago they had to select the name of their kids from a list of names kept by the Mayor of the village - doubt if Zoe ever got on to the list and would have been only considered suitable for a cat, dog or car!
