Shrub with berries ...

this is growing over from next door... any ideas what it is please and if its edible .... :wink:

ok sorry about this going to have to load the flickr set its in as flicker have changed their way of grabbing the url and evertime I try its upsetting ishher the last two pics are the plant I would like ID for pics are called at the bottom of the garden ...

If it has brilliant orange flowers in the spring and has wicked thorns, then it's a berberis (Berberis Darwinii) and the berries are edible.
I wouldn't grow it for it's berries though as they are not the tastiest in the world, but sweet enough, but more often grown as a hedge ... because of the thorns.
