Home made apple press

After our apple picking around 2 weeks ago, My OH made an apple press out of a car jack and a bed frame. Photos can be found on my blog. It worked realy well and we managed to press around 10 ltrs of apple juice. Now sitting in the kitchen, started bubbling away like mad and has now slowed right down. Do we need to add finings to the cider or do we just leave it as is?

Dear Bristolbelle,

Loved the photos of constructing the press. I've managed to get a gallon of juice from 20lb of red bramley pulp in the past. Depending on the summer sun it has sometimes achieved 8%. I've always left it cloudy and it doesn't seem to have done any harm.Keep up the good work and let us know how it progresses,

Love and Peace
Jim

My hubby wants to make a cider press, will show him your pics. He never adds any finings, just lets the cider sit.
