Hello dear fellow Selfsufficientish friends!

Anyone in the Bristol area who would like to meet, this week (end April, early May)? Tea is my tipple.

It has been a long journey down from Orkney, but worth it. I do find it very hard to be away from Rachel and Gilly (one year old) but I guess it is part of my learning to be a parent. Was great to see my cousins (live in St Werburgh area). Now I am out in the countryside. Exploring and mapping for the coming course this weekend.

The 'Bushcraft / Survival' course was really good this last weekend - the guys managed to light really damp wood by friction, but the weather has really not been helpful. Everything was soaked and took a lot to dry. But that is more realistic than playing with fire on a hot summer's day, in the dry.

Next weekend (5-6 May) I'm teaching Natural Navigation here again. Sun would be nice for that but again, we will enjoy whatever comes along! Will be a great way to connect with nature and learn about space and time, the sky and life on the surface of the Earth, while walking the countryside (If anyone wants to know more about what I am doing or wants to come along, drop me a message here. There are spaces, I'm sure.

Anyway, I have this hope that some of you who live in the Bristol area will be about at some point and it would be lovely to meet, share a cuppa and ideas. Laugh and learn. I am using buses and my feet to get about, which does limit where I can get in a short time. I am a keen advocate of hitchhiking but maybe somewhere in the city would be nice?

Please reply, even if you are busy. Being away from family makes me seek out like minded people all the more.
