I heard a good idea - instead of old folks freezing to death because they can't afford their fuel bills, give them all free PV panels along with their bus-pass.

I think planning legislation should be altered, all new builds- both residential and industrial, should have to have solar hot water system and/or PV units. They should become the routine not the extreme, ah I know I'm preaching to the converted here........maybe a few letters will vent my spleen....

PV?

And why can't offices have open-able windows?

we have no windows that open here. The air conditioning is either hot or cold, and we're constantly sharing germs with the rest of the building. What's wrong with outside air?

All the office windows on Wall St were hermitcally sealed after the Wall St Crash of 1929 (?) to prevent any more traders jumping out of them. Or is that another urban myth that I've fallen for...

I fully agree that all new build properties should have solar water heating & rain water harvesting etc as standard. Sadly the only properties that do have come at a premium as an "Eco-friendly home".
