Rabbits and onion tops

Hi

Rabbits keep eating the tops of my parent's onions and leeks in the veggie plot. They live in rural France and the favoured methods of their neighbours to stop the problem include poison and shooting, they want to try something a little less drastic and more bunny friendly whilst saving their crops.

Any ideas?

A terrier or cat might keep them away

Human urine is apparently a good deterrent, but only if the human is a carnivore. And you have to renew it regularly, and after every rain.

You could try burying small bottles around the patch, and putting a couple of teaspoons of ammonia into them. It works with cats!

Thanks Supersprout. Would I be able to get ammonia from the garden centre?

Well I found they went really nice in the oven. If you want I will give you the recipe for vineyard rabbit, really scrumptious.
