Cut the legs into long strips and tie together, roll up and knit a rug or bathmat.

This is a trick from WW2 that I learned from my Mum

Pop them over the tube of the vacuum cleaner. The use it to extract dust from animal bedding.

I get free woodshavings from a local furniture maker but they are a bit dusty for the chooks. I just pop the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner in the bag and the dust gets drawn out.

Or for straining milk-or hanging a cream cheese up to drip over night when you make it.
For tying up plants in the garden because they aren't as tight as twine, for stuffing in other projects and to make "nylon people" out of (full sized stuffed dolls)

Cut a piece to hold a bandage on your horse or youself, so its a tube that slips over the horse leg or whatever you're bandaging.

And of course, that popular favorite-as a spare fan belt for the car.

If you don't want the bother of knitting rugs, tie three legs together and start braiding, adding more legs as you need them, then sew into whatever shape you want when the braid is long enough.

Has anyone found a way of colouring them? I'm not sure I really want a whole rug in "nude".

We managed to get some neon green footless tights from a "fashion" shop recently (for a fancy dresss party) I'm sure they won't be in fashion for long might be a little harsh on the eye though. Nylon will be tough to dye being sythetic and all...

I did try it using cold water dye a few years ago and it didn't take at all. I guess the colour has to be put in during the manufacturing process.

Perhaps I'll just have to start wearing bergundy tights (under long skirts with knee length boots perhaps).

Or maybe put a request on Freecycle. Not sure what reaction that would get!
