Got a horse!

Hi All,
I finally got a small horse to keep Pinky donkey company, and the silly horse is scared of him and being a bit bossy and bullyish, so we put Pinky in the barn, he hasn't brayed yet and I hope the horse doesn't have a fit when he does.
Anyhow, horse is a 27 yr old red Appaloosa named Buster, he's 14.1 hh (so, a big pony

) and he's fit to be ridden.
So once he's settled down a bit and I've had his hooves trimmed I'll be off exploring the trails again. Great for the peace of mind.

No Milly -Molly-, I am not going to go falling on my head again

, and I have a helmet now to protect my noggin from such things.
Thanks Nev and Tigerhair for your positive comments.
I'm really looking forward to having him around for a while and we've figured out what to do if he keeps chasing Pinky,

we'll divide the paddock, cause I haven't had a GOOD horse in so long I don't want to let this one get away.
And by good horse I mean fully trained, I've been riding green stuff for 8 years, and I am getting too old and my health is too frail to train anymore young ones, and my patience ain't what it used to be
Take Care All, does anybody ride but me? And what have you got for horses?

I have had horses and ponies in the past but not recently - too busy with my child!
My first horse was Jo Jo, a 15.1hh black cob mare, she was horrible! She threw me off every day and hated all traffic including bikes! The farrier hated her as she hated him and was very strong... I swapped her for:
Tara - an angel, 14.1hh palamino anglo-arab who was a darling and would jump park benches and was only scared of fishermen's umbrellas....
I had her for 7 years, then started working and travelling and when I returned I bought Bess...
at 16.1hh Thoroughbred mare who was great, but a bit too much for me actually. I only had her for a year because I became very depressed and sold her cheaply to a great man (mounted policeman) who I knew would give her the best home.... Since then nothing.

Congrats on finding yourself a good horse! We raise American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses here. The horses and Cattle are our main operations.
I don't ride much anymore, but have a newer broodmare I might try and take a spin on. The horse I bought to ride is down at the neighbors for their kids, not sure if I will ever get it back! Those good ones are hard to find! :)

I can't wait to get out riding again, apparently the only things that make Buster spook are llamas and alpacas, and obviously-donkeys, but I have a good saddle and I've ridden enough that my muscles should hold me on, after 37 years of riding in total, its like an automatic reaction when a horse spooks now, I just grab with my leg muscles to stay on.
I may be a bit stiff, but thats just because I haven't ridden at all for about 18 months, a hot bath will take care of that.
