Acorns from the eddible oak can be roasted and eaten like chestnuts or you can turn them into flour.
Apparently they also make a good and very filling jelly rather like tofu - cant say i have ever eaten it.
As a younger kid i ate small numbers of normal acorns while at college - shudder to think what the tanninn in them did to me lol

never heard about the edible oak. how do you recognize it?
For the pastry recipe, you need to boil the pealed acorns about six times with water to make them edible.

I've got millions of normal acorns but I'll leave them for the jays and squirrels!
