Hi
I was hoping someone could help me as to conversion from ounces & pounds to tablespoons & cups. This would be for dry ingredients. I have a number of recipes that I can't use because I don't know how to convert measurements. I was visiting a friend who works at an historical re-enactment village yesterday. While we were talking she asked if I knew how much an ounce of pickling spices were? She works at doing 1800's cooking, baking & preserving the garden harvest. I would like to be able to help her out with a handy conversion chart also. Hope someone can help me.

Can't you just weigh 1oz of whatever, then see how many tablespoons you get from it?

16 tablespoons = 1 cup (8 ounces)

Therefore 1 tbsp - 8/16 ounces (or 1/2 ounce). That's from:

G'Day Mrs Tweedie,

One of the problems is converting a weight measure (pounds & ounces) to a volume measure (cups & table spoons) so it depends on how robust you recipes are. there will be some variation depending on the density of what you are measuring.
