Hello fellow Good Lifers

Post: # 6736Post redorangenbrown »

Hi there my name is Sean and I live in Tyalgum NSW Australia on 15 acres named "Big Nice". At the moment my partner and I live in a barn shaped shed. We are striving to become as self sufficient as possible. I only just stumbled upon your site today. It's great. I look foward to popping in every now and then and catching up with like minded types from all over the world.

Hi Sean and welcome. Lots of Aussies around today! Sounds like a 'nice' lot of land you have there! Do you have any animals?

Hey there,
Thanks for the welcomes. Tyalgum is just below the Qld Border in north eastern NSW. The town is about 20 minutes drive west of Murwillumbah. Round the back of Mt Warning. Here's a map:

It is a wonderful part of the world, I'm very lucky.

As far as animals go I have two dogs. I'm vegan so I don't eat any animal products, still it doesn't prevent me from having all sorts of pets, I just haven't gotten around to looking into it yet.

I asked about animals because you have 15 acres and I thought it was farmland. What do you do with your land or is it just bush? You won't be short of space for a veg patch anyway!

Yeah it is a lot. I guess here in Oz we have heaps of space so the land is there if you want to get out of the cities. I want to re-forest a large proportion of it with native trees and shrubs. Then there's fruit trees and yes lots of room for veggies. I'm just starting out so it's all very exciting.
