River Cottage Spring - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is back!

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

Just wondered if he's another Marmite? (love him/loathe him)

Personally i think he's done some really good things, especially the Chicken Out campaign.

Did anyone else watch last night's show?

I'm generally not keen on people who have their photo plastered all over the place. On the other hand, not having a telly, I've never seen him in action. Basically, if he gets people thinking more about what they eat, that can only be good; I might not like the way he does it... But that's my problem.

It was an excellent programme (then again, I'm biased in favour of HFW on anything at all!). Can't wait to see what happens to the veg-avoiders.

Mostly love him but get a bit miffed when the prog is verging on a free advert for River Cattage HQ courses and spin offs.

I like Hugh although I think he's dangerously close to over-using / over-commercialising the River Cottage brand

I used to love him. now I'm not so sure because I don't like his "smallholding-er than thou" attitude or his assumption that everyone can afford organic or free range food. I do the best I can, he makes me feel guilty 'cos aparently the best I can do isn't good enough.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

Marmite he ain't

I like some of his programmes - if I am interested in what he's doing, I did see and enjoy the Bristol smallholding, but would like to know where it is :?

I went right off him when he went all preachy and smug but I'm enjoying the Spring series. If you look back at his first series when he was just starting out, he's got an entirely different attitude and it's a bit sad to see how much he's changed really. Back to your roots, Hugh!

I think it's sometimes difficult to remember that he's never been an environmentalist - as far as I know, he's never gabbled on about being particularly green. It's food, its production and the sustainability and morality of its production that's always been his main concern. Food creates its own marketplace, and he operates within that marketplace. I don't blame him, although I have no idea what his pricing policy is. That, perhaps, might change my opinion slightly.
