One thing the more experienced holders told me (back in the days when I had mine) was don't try to be organic from the start, or you'll break your heart over it and give up, esp if the plot was badly overgrown when you took it on. I have also seen people who take on allotments it is their first time...

My M&D refuse to buy them so DS and his cousins get new clothes or shoes if they need them, soo much better.

MIL buys loads usually chocolate that none of us like and it is just a waste, but she will not take telling.

Broad beans and Broccoli are big faves here and radishes, all pretty easy to grow.
Much as we love them I just can't grow cauliflowers or scallions

Some of the old gardening books I've read say the same only water seed and newly transplanted things, and let the rest find their own water.

Though the way our weather is going I don't think we'll ever get a chance to try it out. Another summer like last year and we might try rice!

Bailed out littles bath last night, about 35l. I shower every other day, mainly just to wash my hair, OH showers everynight he is an ag fitter and comes home filthy, DS has 2-3 baths a week depending on what he's been playing in. We have the head on it's lowest setting, I think the pipe is a bit too...

A 4 pt carton of milk is £1.34 and butter about 90p-£1.00 we are trying to cut back on what we buy now eg making own bread, bics and cakes and reducing the amount we waste, throwing out food is a hanging offence in our house now.

It is seperate, but if the plug trap gets a bit blocked the tray will get to the point of overflowing, I set am alarm for two mins when I'm in there but even that seems to use a hell of a lot of water.
