Re: Is the grass really greener?
We have a foot in Scotland and a foot in the Lot Valley S of France. We live in Aberdeenshire: fabulous warm, caring, funny, intelligent people. (The ones we know anyway and all of so green !!!) Beautiful countryside, breathtaking landscape, fab education for my daughters. A lovely pace of life. I c...

Re: New Hens Settling with Old Hens Adjustments.
Hi, It's really daunting isn't it. I know it's natural and they'll settle and they're even numbered but I'd like them to be a lot more free range and have some more in their life time, in possibly three years (another house - life plans etc). Six is about the limit in their run, I know others would ...

Re: New Hens Settling with Old Hens Adjustments.
Hi Thomzo,
Thanks for letting me know. It's such a shock to see how these hens arrive, I think it made me more worried about their chances against what I previously thought of as normal hens and I now perceive as large, strong, confident hens. What a difference!!

New Hens Settling with Old Hens Adjustments.
Hi, I've got three hens, recently started laying Isa's. I've had them since Easter. Yesterday we rescued three one year old, (not officially ex bats but rescues from not cages but squeezed in barns). The hens, all named but now referred to as the Shineys and the Scruffies, are all in together in a l...

Yup and she was a mother of a girl in my year at school so I got totally paranoid (especially at 16). Thankfully moved house within weeks.

Re: Hi, I'm new.
My scariest name goof was being passed a slip to sign for bank withdrawal at 16 and looking at the blank box and going totally blank..... Absolutely nothing, scanned women's names in head, then caught sight of name on my bank book. Was convinced I was going doolally for a month. Exam stress for you!

Re: Another Jam Problem
Hi,
Thanks for help. I read about the butter in a Delia book I think, it's worked fine on others. I've tried the scum and it was fine and eating the set tests keeps me amused until it's ready and helps postpone washing up.

Hi,
I'm Aberdeenshire too, I've recognised a name or two. I'm FMN on Neeps. I should have kept the same name, I just didn't think of it. I think it's probably about time I come to a meet!

Another Jam Problem
Hi, I made strawberry jam for the first time, at the weekend. (Probably my fourth flavour) After passing the set test, I added the bit of butter to remove the scum but it didn't work, so I spooned off as much as possible. The morning after potting, it had a weakish set and a scum layer in the jar. I...

Hi, We're in Northern Scotland. I love green forums, out here off line I feel pretty green in the general mix of things but online, I get loads of inspiration from more experienced Greenies and realize I've loads more to try. Over time though, I meet more ,'of us,' out here offline, so things are ch...
