helpnet

Hi folks. I thought it might be worthwhile to let you know about a project I'm involved in. The quotes below should be sufficient to explain what it's about. At the moment it is essentially inactive, but feedback and participation are welcome. helpnet : http://habitat.us.to/ The aim of this project ...

Re: The Free Economy v2.0 - Explorer, Firefox and Safari

Hi Scott, I have published ideas for something similar at http://habitat.us.to/ - which I have temporarily dubbed "helpnet". I want to provide people with a recourse for situations or needs which fall outside the scope of projects such as justfortheloveofit.org and couchsurfing.org - and s...

Battery desulfation (lead-acid batteries)

There was an article in HomePower magazine a few years ago explaining a method for reviving sulfated batteries, which sparked a significant amount of interest in this practice. The method, and possible electronic circuits used, are discussed at http://home.comcast.net/~ddenhardt201263/desulfator/des...

Re: The Free Economy - Give it a go

Hi Scot, I have a few tentative suggestions for the project : - allowing people to *share* things as well as give things away - providing a contact *form*, which would allow people to be contacted without their e-mail address being displayed publicly - allowing people to specify the length of time t...

Re: The Free Economy - Give it a go

Well done on this Scot. The design seems sensible and elegant.

I've been absorbed with other things, so I haven't had much chance to use it. I'll quite likely be able to do so from now on however.

whopools.net - resource sharing

In case anyone is interested, or finds it useful, I thought I would mention whopools.net - an online tool for sharing resources. For example books and dvds, a place to sleep, computers with the possibility of printing, sitting the babies, a car. And more. These resources are shared in resourcepools....

Re: The Free Economy - website in progress

Hi Scot, Along with others, I would like to register my enthusiasm for this idea. I would definitely use such a facility. I have a few years experience with database development and Perl/CGI programming. I generally lean towards free and open-source software development, but am not dogmatic about th...

Re: How do you set up a coperative?

Hi Andy, What kind of co-op do you have in mind? I'm new to the forum, so forgive me if that is obvious. I have made tentative efforts to establish co-operatives before. They were intended to facilitate people helping each other outside a monetary context - tool-sharing, skill-sharing, that sort of ...

Hello (County Waterford, Ireland)

Hi, My name is David. I'm presently living in County Waterford, Ireland. I have lived in Dublin at various stages over the past 10 years or so, and very briefly in Wales also. I've tried to practice a D.I.Y. ethic in various ways over the last few years, and can see myself continuing to do so over t...
